We are now offering Spanish-bilingual SLP assessment support!
Emily grew up in Michigan where she developed her interest in supporting others in need. Emily obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Western Michigan University followed by her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Grand Valley State University.
Shortly after graduation she escaped the brutal winters of Michigan and moved to Arizona to start the journey of a school-based SLP. After moving to California due to her spouse's career, she transitioned to contracting positions which eventually led to virtual services in order to create consistency for herself and her students.
After working with 4 different contract companies and servicing 6 school districts during that time, Emily created HES from the ground up because of her desire to empower clinicians through a transparent workplace.
Emily is passionate about giving all individuals access to connection through neurodiversity affirming therapy, AAC access, and thorough evaluations. She has completed the Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program (ATACP) through CSUN, and continues her professional development through various affiliations.
Outside of her work as an SLP, Emily enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and spending time with her husband and dogs. She loves exploring all of the special places she has not yet witnessed in California.
Josie is a second-generation Chicana who grew up in Southern California. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Science Disorders from California State University, Fullerton, and furthered her education by obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, Long Beach.
With a deep commitment to serving culturally and linguistically diverse populations, Josie firmly believes that differences do not equate to disorders. Her goal is to ensure that every individual has access to appropriate evaluations and therapeutic interventions. With a wealth of experience in supervising aspiring SLP graduate students from diverse backgrounds, she remains dedicated to her professional development through continuous training and learning opportunities.
Beyond her role as an SLP, Josie finds joy in traveling and engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking. She also savors experiences like wine tasting and exploring new restaurants alongside her fiancé. Having explored 10 countries already, Josie eagerly anticipates visiting more destinations in the near future.
